Grove began his career in the securities business in 1982 in New York (Mabon Nugent and Dillon Read). He moved on to Chicago in 1988 (William Blair, The Chicago Corporation, Nesbit Burns and Wayne Hummer) and started Hummer Mower Associates with Philip Hummer in 2018. In addition to being Managing Partner of HMA, Grove handles client relationships and is responsible for strategic planning and business development.
Grove is a graduate of Brown University, and a past trustee of the American Writers Museum in Chicago and The Ragdale Foundation in Lake Forest, Il. Additionally, he is a past member of the Advisory Council for the National Outdoor Leadership School, a former trustee of The Associated Colleges of Illinois, and past president of the Youth Guidance Associates Board. When not in the office, Grove writes novels, the latest being Dusty Money. He is also the author of Forty Rod Road and Hope.
Grove has two sons, Chapin and Ned, and resides in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago with his dog Vino.
